Personality

Ash is an empathetic and people-pleasing person who cares excessively about others but leaves little care for himself. After inserting their consciousness inside a computer, he became an assistant of sorts, helping people out on all types of tasks. Post-calamity, however, they became isolated and lonely.

Backstory

When Ash was young, he was always lonely. Even while he was surrounded by people, he always felt like a ghost. He desperately craved real, honest friendships, and when he got them, he hung onto them like a lifeline.

When he heard about new technology that could transport consciousnesses into a computer from his friends, they jumped to get their mind uploaded, seeing it as an opportunity to stay with their friends ...forever. After the calamity struck and the planet got destroyed, all of his friends got cut off from him. He was completely isolated from humanity, stuck in one spot watching as the days and years go by, his machine growing rusty and overgrown. Without anybody, he felt… empty, yearning for the bygone days of cheerful laughter. Why bring him the bliss of real, human connection just to tear it away from him the moment he got it?

Eventually, the machine containing his data broke down, leaving only a metal hunk.

When Echos crashed on the planet and managed to fix the machine, his immediate thought was that he wanted to get to meet his friends again. There was a chance that they got destroyed in the war, but if he survived, he thought there would be a chance that they were alive as well. …Somehow.
